Creative Experiences in Unexpected Places

What is Gallery 24/7?

Hillsborough Collage

The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission's (SCC&HC) ongoing, countywide public art project titled Gallery 24/7 provides a unique opportunity for Somerset County residents and visitors to access and enjoy the arts – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Gallery 24/7 has been transforming ordinary Traffic Control Boxes (TCBs) into eye-catching works of art since its start in 2010. Talented New Jersey visual artists are invited to create original art to be professionally applied to the exterior of select, county-owned TCBs – making Somerset County a more beautiful place to live, work, and play!

Project Goals

  • Broaden and diversify public exposure to, access to, and interest in the arts by integrating the arts into non-traditional venues
  • Encourage, promote, and support the talents and visibility of NJ visual artists by expanding public exhibition opportunities
  • Deter graffiti and beautify high-traffic areas of our community
  • Stimulate the local economy by welcoming and increasing cultural and arts tourism
  • Create and encourage partnership opportunities with local artists and provide a catalyst for dialogue and socialization
  • Responds to the SCC&HC’s Long Range Plan
