Applications are now CLOSED for the Somerset County Youth Council (SCYC).
✨ The 2026–2027 term will be the FINAL Youth Council cohort.
This is a unique opportunity for students to build leadership skills, serve their community, and be part of a meaningful final cohort.
Eligibility

Students entering grades 7–11 in September 2026

Must reside in Somerset County, NJ
Program Commitment
Youth Council members are expected to fully participate throughout the year, including:

Meetings: First and third Thursdays of each month
Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Location: Human Services Building, 27 Warren Street, Somerville -
Community service projects, events, and group work
Application Requirements

Completed application

One letter of recommendation from a non-family adult (teacher, counselor, coach, or employer)
Selection Process

Finalists will be invited to participate in an interview

All applicants will be notified of their status by the end of July
Important Dates

Application Deadline: May 31 at 11:59 PM (no late submissions accepted)

Mandatory Orientation: September 17, 2026 (required for accepted members)

Mandatory Graduation Ceremony: June 3, 2027 (required for accepted members)
Being a member of the Youth Council requires dedication, teamwork, and accountability. All members are expected to uphold the standards outlined in the Somerset County Youth Council Bylaws.
