SOCIAL SERVICES: Your child will have the support of Social Workers who will help him/her adjust to living in the youth Detention Center. The Social Worker department will be the main contact for you and your child’s lawyer and other professional people. You may call the Social Work department as needed, by dialing 732-398-4404.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES: Your child will be assigned to a school group and will be expected to attend and participate in all scheduled classes to the best of his or her ability. If your child is currently enrolled in public school, he or she will be given credit for the work he or she does in the Juvenile Detention Center.
PHONE CALLS: Your child is allowed 2 free calls with a social worker, and can make collect phone calls at designated times during the day and evening. If you would like to use a credit card to set up a pre-paid phone account for your child, please call 800-483-8314 and follow the prompts.
Your child may be allowed to make a five-minute phone call home to a parent/guardian through a Social Worker once a week. Your child must request this type of call from a Social Worker. Incoming phone calls are not allowed except in special circumstances and approved beforehand by your child’s social worker.
MAIL: Incoming mail is distributed once a day, Monday through Friday, except on holidays. There is no restriction on the amount of mail your child may send from the youth Detention Center. Postage is provided by the facility.
DIRECTIONS: Take Route 22 to Route 287 South. Follow 287 approximately 4.4 miles to Exit 9 (River Road, Highland Park). Bear right after the exit and travel along River Road for 3.3 miles to the 5th traffic light. Turn right at this light onto Route 18 South. Take 18 South 3.1 miles (you will go through 2 lights). 0.2 miles past the 2nd light, you will exit right onto Route 1 South. Travel 2.2 miles to Route 130 (Camden) exit on the right. Bear left and cross over Route 1 on to Route 130.
Continue on Route 130 through 3 traffic lights. At the next light, exit to the right for Apple Orchard Lane. Use the jughandle to cross over Route 130 onto Apple Orchard Lane, and make your first left onto the Youth Services access road. The Juvenile Detention Center is the gray building ahead of you.

Take Route 287 to Exit 10 (Easton Ave). Follow Easton Avenue to JFK Boulevard (approximately 2 miles). Make a right on JFK Boulevard (this road changes names several times and eventually becomes Bennetts Lane). Follow this road for about 4 miles to the end. Make a right on Route 27. Follow Route 27 to the first traffic light (Wawa is on the corner). Make a left on Cozzens Lane. Follow this road to Route 1. Cross over Route 1. You are now on Adams Lane. Follow Adams Lane until in intersects with Route 130. Make a right on to Route 130 and travel 1.2 miles to the exit for Apple Orchard Lane. Use the jughandle to cross over Route 130 onto Apple Orchard Lane, and make your first left onto the Youth Services access road. The Juvenile Detention Center is the gray building ahead of you.

Visitors must bring photo identification and arrive in the public foyer of the Juvenile Detention Center at least 15 minutes before the visiting time. Persons arriving late will not be allowed to visit.
Only two people may visit each resident and there will be no sharing a visit. Photo Identification will be held until the end of the visit.
No items are allowed into the visiting area. Visitors must leave pocketbooks, cellphone, and any other belonging in their car or locker.
Property can be dropped off during visitation. Residents may ONLY have 3 pairs of underpants, 3 bras (no underwire), 3 white regular T-shirts, 3 pairs of white socks, 2 pairs of white or cream thermal underwear, 2 paperback books or magazines, playing cards. Please mark all clothing items with a permanent marker, using the resident’s full name.
