Passports
Apply for a U.S. Passport at the County Clerk's Office
The County Clerk’s office is a Passport Acceptance Agency.
You do not need to be a Somerset County resident to use this service.
Passport Hours
Monday through Friday 8:15 AM to 4 PM
Extended hours: every Wednesday until 6 PM
Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcomed.

Required Documents
1) Application
- Visit Passport Forms to find the correct application and other forms you may need.
- Do NOT sign or fill in 'Identifying Documents' information.
- Applications are also available in our office.
2) Evidence of United States Citizenship
- Find which documents are accepted evidence of citizenship.
- U.S. Birth Certificate must have a raised seal and list BOTH parents’ names.
- Hospital or baptismal certificates are NOT accepted.
3) Photo Identification
- Find acceptable forms of Photo ID.
4) Passport photo
- Our agents will take your passport photo for an additional $10 or you can bring your own photos.

Fees
Fees depend on circumstance such as your age, how quickly you need a passport and whether you get a passport book or card. This calculator will help anticipate your total cost.
Be prepared to make 2 separate payments:
Passport Fee – check or money order ONLY payable to U.S. Dept of State
County Fee – cash, card, check or money order payable to Somerset County Clerk
Passports for Minors
Familiarize yourself with requirements for minors under the age of 16 and for those who are 16-17 Years Old.
