On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 6-8 p.m., the Somerset County Engineering Division will host a public meeting to inform residents about planned improvements for sections of County Route 531, also known as Hillcrest Road in Watchung.

Residents can attend the meeting, which will take place inside the Watchung Municipal Building, located at 15 Mountain Boulevard, to ask questions, see the slide presentation, and hear from County engineers and consultant representatives about the project’s timeline, potential detours, and construction staging.

The proposed improvements to County Route 531, which are from Valley Road to Crestwood Drive, are intended to address road safety concerns that were identified through a collection of data points, completed studies, and engineering analyses.
