The Operation Helping Hand (OHH) Initiative is a program where law enforcement plays an integral part in identifying individuals with substance use disorders and, together with community partners, serves as a point of entry into treatment and/or recovery support services. Somerset County OHH’s goal is to have law enforcement, accompanied by recovery support specialists, engage residents in need by providing on-the-spot referrals to treatment and other resources.

Community Hope's Hope for Veterans Program addresses a major underlying source of veterans’ homelessness: High rates of mental illness, trauma, and substance abuse; and the challenges are increasing. Roughly half the soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan have been diagnosed with mental health conditions, including one in five that suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. Through Community Hope's Hope for Veterans Programs, they have rescued over 6,000 veterans and their families from homelessness and despair. Hope for Veterans provide transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, rapid re-housing and homelessness prevention. The services they provide are essential to our veterans and include mental health counseling, transportation and employment counseling.
